Much Needed Shower Relocation: Unlocking Potential With A New Layout

This white subway tile paired with charcoal herringbone flooring set the tone for the look we recreated in Lafayette.

For this project, the primary bathroom layout just wasn’t working. The clients—both over 6 feet tall—were squeezed into a corner shower that felt more like a phone booth. Daily routines became a source of frustration, and they finally reached out for help.

The challenge? Tight space, awkward layout, and a master bath that felt tile-heavy and weighed down by dated finishes.

And the solution?

Actualize stepped in to rework the floor plan entirely. With careful measurements and thoughtful planning, we relocated the shower to the more spacious side of the room—transforming it into a comfortable 60×30 area with raised shower heads at 91 inches.

Natural light now streams in through both the skylight and window, creating an open, airy feel.

The old shower space?

Now it’s home to the vanity. The new layout flows so much better, making the space feel larger, brighter, and more functional.

We didn’t stop there—we also updated the shared bath, which was just as tile-heavy and outdated.

Now, both bathrooms feel clean, modern, and true to the clients’ style—complete with their chosen palette of blue tones.
